The design criteria for this new garden was defined by the location - a newly built house on the cliff top at Shanklin, Isle of Wight. Plants had to be resistant to salt and cold easterly winds in winter but it was also important that there was colour and form and a place to enjoy the view.
Using gravel helped to maintain the seaside theme while being very practical for the owners - a busy professional couple. The garden soon became a focus for parties and entertaining - especially on summer evenings.
