Garden Design - Herbaceous Borders

Garden Design - Herbaceous BordersGarden Design - Herbaceous BordersGarden Design - Herbaceous Borders

Herbaceous Borders are found in almost every garden you see. From small and narrow to wide and sweeping a border can be any shape or size. The best are at least a couple of metres wide, are densely planted and have a suitable backdrop such as a hedge, wall or fence. Herbaceous Borders can give great pleasure especially for an enthusiastic gardener who doesn't mind getting his/her hands dirty.

  • Costs: low/med as plants and mulch only needed
  • Maintenance: medium to medium/high
  • Advantages: can look stunning if planted properly. Ideal for keen gardeners
  • Disadvantages: requires regular attention
